Thanks for the great link.

I've read Taimashin #1 and Orion; neither is worth seeking out,
although the Yog Sothoth pictures in Taimashin are pretty good.

Arkham Woods by Christopher Rowley is the only English language
original mythos manga I know about and it is pretty good, both
pictures and story, but the ending is purely manga over mythos.

I tried to find that 5 book series manga about the evil old gods but
it is unavailable in English as far as I can tell. Ed Lipsett says he
doesn't think too highly of most mythos manga in Japanese.

It's no surprise that Christopher Rowley is into mythos. Anyone who's
read his _Vang_ series would know that. There was definitely
something Great Old One like about the Gods of Axone Neurone...

I must check out Arkham Woods.

The Vang and Battlemaster was an awesome set of books. I really
wouldn't have thought you could come up with such a basic SF idea, the
really really mean monster, and turn into such a great story. But he
really did. He's still stuck in writing Fantasy instead nowadays,
isn't he? Too bad. I've just started re-reading Vinge's "Fire upon
the deep" and the description of the awakening Power in the prologue
reminded me right away of a cybernetic Vang (so long ago that I don't
remember what the Power turns out to be like later).

Now, when is Mountains of Madness by Del Toro due to come out again?

Looking at the ISFDB, he wasn't writing anything at all. Or at least
getting published as text. Another one of those authors who got
disappeared after 2001. Until _Arkham Woods_ this last year. There's
an advance notice of _Pleasure Model_ due out February 2nd. Part of
a series dubbed "Netherworld" .

I would cry if this happened..... I loved the movie THE THING by John
Carpenter sooo much as a kid. This was (at least in my head ) what a
modern mountains of madness was (not a post cold war paranoia story).
The Ice, the storms, the darkness and the feeling that man was soo
weak compaired to the rest of the universe...... A re- do of the thing
by del toro or a real mountain of madness would be sooo great.

Why, oh why, do we need another crappy remake? How about an original
adaptation?

Frankly, I rather enjoyed the original with James Arness as a giant
carrot man... Of course, it had very little to do with the original
story.
